the most important part of procrastinating...
How silly of me. The whole point of the previous post was to bring to light the most vital procrastinative (yep, I just did that) task when moving house. And that is drawing every piece of furniture you own to scale ... and then arranging it on your scaled floor plan.
You know, I think my subconscious decided to forget putting these photos in the last post on purpose. Anything to avoid sorting and packing those damned piles of papers.
procrastination
Extra prepared
Marcel is also getting stressed about the move.
How on earth am I supposed to do that?
And then there is exhibit A: an example of what every surface in my house actually looks like. Kent - what the fuck are all these papers!? I don't know, you don't know, but of course there is sure to be a really important invoice wedged in-between ... that to-do list from 3 weeks ago and ... that voucher for that thing we don't give a shit about. Hang on, I think I see my scarf jammed in there. So that's where that is! So of course, the likely scenario is that I will pack all of these things, and then they will sit packed in the front room of our new house for 6 months. Hey! Maybe we don't need to get a futon for guests - hello, we can just put a fitted sheet around several clumps of papers!
Exhibit A
Exhibit B: I'm pretty sure that's a random sock in that pile.
Now ... I really need to make some cat art (at least I know to pack that last). Opens 14 June at Craft Vic people! You can see first hand (small preview below) what choosing to move at the worst possible time can do to a person - it's all in the art.

new work
my child, my child - collage on paper, 2012
Due to it's sheer tininess I've decided not to put this piece in the upcoming show - the image in this bad boy measures approx 3 x 4 cm despite being on a rather hefty piece of paper (around 20 x 20 cm. I just made that up. I'm not sure how big it is, but I reckon that's a good estimate).

after the end
Dear friends,
I cordially invite you to attend my upcoming solo show at anna pappas gallery, which opens 30 May, at 6.30 pm. This show is the amalgamation of many moons of serious cutting and pasting, and I'm super excited to have it brought together for this show. Help me get folks spilling out onto the street and join me for a glass of something awesome, would love to see you there!

A parallel universe where what comes after now is the beginning of the past. An alternate reality in which a ghostly and fractured sequence of time leads to cul de sacs where children play eternally. A ruptured linear flow of objects repeat, mutate and accumulate across vast open plateaus of white void. Where creaking growth, like hands dragged across balloons, sets a melody against the marching beat of distant footsteps. Cogs rain down as flowers fly up to meet them. The gardening, the growing - the pruning and the tuning. All just beginning, even after it is finished.

The Travel Issue
So last month I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to create a work for Yen Magazine, based 'my favourite travel destination'. I intially thought Berlin, coz you know - why wouldn't it be? But then I figured it seems to be everyone's favourite travel destination, and that would be boring! And as I thought about it, it made me realise that though in my travels I spent longest in Berlin; it wasn't the place that enamoured me so, but it was the 2 month honeymoon drinking coffee, wandering and drawing pictures with my Husband that really made it special. Really, we could have had an awesome time anywhere!
So I decided to revisit Copenhagen (in a mad rush to meet the very tight deadline), particularly because I knew I could answer all the questions about it! It made me realise that even though I was only there for 6 days over a year ago (and spent approximately 84% of that time squished in an armchair playing cards and drinking hot chocolate), it is the one place that I would love to revisit. Such a tiny city filled with sumptuous delights (particularly the locals - um, yum!).
I have a weakness for beautiful things, and Copenhagen is an entire city made of it. Some of my favourite things are from there: my special green winter rug (which now seems to belong to my kitten) that kept us warm when we had no heating in Berlin, the coffee cups that I carted across 3 countries in my hand luggage, and that damn-beautiful-good-for-nothing-but-tying-around-wrists coloured string.
Sighs. If anyone's heading up that way, I could totally go an overpriced tall latte and a fudgey wudgey cookie right now.

Website is LIVE and more shows to come!
Dear Friends,
Apologies for my absence. It's been a super busy time, and I have been hoarding secret pictures that I am dying to share. In the meantime, the website is as up to date as it can be at this time, so please do check it out!
My new solo project show after the end, is going to be launching at the end of May at Anna Pappas Gallery - stay tuned. All the work has been sent to the framers, and I'm sitting on my hands waiting for it to be completed (eeee!).
However, while I sit on my hands, I'm also working on a collaboration extravaganza with the multi-talented superwoman Tai Snaith, on a so not secret crazy cat lady show at Craft Victoria: Why I Eyes Ya. While Tai is busily creating an accolade of cat-related products for our show (while simultaneously preparing for her sure to be awesome West Space show - ahem, the woman is a machine), I am madly trying to bang out some more wacky cat-madness collage.
Here's an oldie but a goodie to keep you sated.
All in a day's work - keep you posted!

new website - coming soon!
Dear all,
A very
happy Friday to you all. Just a quick note to let you know that I have
been working away on a very simple but brand spanking new website! It is
now active, but still very much a work in progress. You can take a
sneaky look at it here. Over the
next few weeks I will be simplifying the warming room, so that it is
back to a good old fashioned blog, and transferring most of my work to
date to the new site.
Hopefully this means easier navigating and happier viewing. Your patience is very appreciated - I can't wait to have it fully up and running for all to see!

new work
Hello all!
I thought I'd share some new work with you today. It was originally going to be for an upcoming show, but I have changed my direction for that particular body of work, so I decided to pop it up here instead.
Happy Tuesday!

flowers
Good evening all!
Recently I did a little collaboration with the gorgeous peeps of Tinpan Orange, for their new single 'Flowers.' The artwork is from my Stockroom show (check out that post here), called would i rather be a sunflower. You might have seen the original work previously posted here. The piece was actually done in honour of an older song by the band ('Sunflower'), and now has had new life breathed into it for 'Flowers.'
If you haven't heard their music, I strongly recommend checking them out! The band have just left to tour with The Cat Empire through Canada, but no doubt will be gracing our shores with some live goodness in the next few months.
You can download the song (plus a couple of other great tunes) from triple j unearthed, here. I guarantee it will make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.
Happy weekend to you all, stay warm!

eyepatch and magical snatch
For those of you who didn't/won't have the chance to see to Janice Darling in her paper-flesh at Rooftop Art Space, I thought I better include a few 'up close and personal' shots of the works.
the killer stretch
waking up nutritionally
the burn
the positive approach
exercises for special problems
the natural approach to weightloss
Big thanks again to all who came to the launch, and have been visiting during their lunch breaks and other such things. It has been such a great collection to work on, and now I am finding it hard to stop Jane Fonda-ing.

Janice Darling - Opening Night
Hello all! My atrocious hangover indicates what a glorious opening we had at Rooftop Art Space last night. The sun was shining, the weather was clear, and there were beverages and burgers a plenty. Massive thanks to the gorgeous Kirsty and Tom Budge, and Kirsty's brother Adam, who were instrumental in making the install and opening one of the most pleasant affairs possible. If you were unable to make the opening, we have a glorious week of weather ahead, so I strongly recommend getting yourself up there, if not to see the show, to at least enjoy the cheery vibe Rooftop has to offer.

Killer pictures by Kirsty and Tom.

Janice Darling
As one show comes down, another goes up! I cordially invite you all to join me for a beer on Monday 12 March (yes, a week from tomorrow!) to celebrate the arrival of Janice Darling at Rooftop Art Space. The night kicks off at around 6pm, and the show goes until April 4.
'The Burn'
Festooned in a black unitard and an eye patch, Janice Darling was discovered in a Jane Fonda Workout book. Six months before the images were shot for the book, Janice was hit by a car and thrown through a shop window. She lost her left eye, crushed her pelvis and broke both her legs. She maintained that she survived due to her smokingly fit bod.
In this collection of collage, painting and artifacts, Janice has been immortalised through rainbows, flowers and bright swirly colours. This woman is obviously invincible, inspiring unfit women of the 80s to get off their
arses and work it, Jane Fonda style.

All artwork will be for sale. Please note that
this EXCLUDES the Jane Fonda Workout Book. This stays with me forever,
as a beacon of hope and joy for my studio. People wishing to view the book will need to make an appointment to visit it in the studio. Hope to see you all there on opening night!

butter factory
Good evening all! Here are some shots taken by the lovely Kent Wilson from my current show. This work is called butter factory - it's the biggest piece in the show, at about ... 80 x 120cm. The show only has two more days, so if you haven't already had a sneak peak, I suggest getting yourselves up/down/across to Kyneton for some viewing fun!
If you did/do happen to miss viewing the show, never fear. My next solo project 'Janice Darling' opens at rooftop art spaces on 12th March - details to come!

orchid head
succulent pilot
envirocise #2
touch my beard there's a parrot in it
in a pot of earth
A selection of (rather dodgy I'm afraid), of install shots of 'and i shall be your canopy' from the current exhibition at Stockroom. If you want more info on any of the pieces, just shoot me an email.
Many thanks to all who made the effort to come and see the show, and those who are still planning to visit. (Come see me over the weekend, I'll make you a coffee!)
Now. For the next project ... oooh mysterious!
