How this little number slipped through the cracks is beyond me. I think this is the first silly mutant I ever created. This cat duck (cuck?) in a way was the beginning of mutant land for me ... it's little head is so chubby, its duck legs so flappy! What's not to love?

I wish this creature existed. As if you wouldn't want to pinch it's cheeks. No? Just me then?

new studio!

Aaaah, smell the potential, feel the sunshine, look at the shiny new floor! Welcome to my new Daylesford Studio of Happy! And by 'my' deep down I really mean 'ours' but I am being overexcited and greedy. Kent can have that corner over there somewhere. We have a super lushy view out onto our huge grassy garden, with rosmary planted over to the left, and bamboo over to the right (you can't see these in the photo though). There is also a stripey outdoor blind, just like in a story book, that is all awesome. Can't wait to get my desk in there and start making shit! Woot!'

Happy news: my etsy shop is finally OPEN! Huzzah! You can visit it here, or by searching for allbecause under 'shop' on the etsy website. (This is my sign in name, and unfortunately this couldn't be changed until it was far too late - apologies for any confusion!) Feel free to browse and enjoy, at this stage I am posting original works for sale. Once I get settled in my new house, I am planning to have custom stationary and prints for sale also - eeee!

tiny selections

Apologies for my sporadic posting lately - I am quite confident that my brain has turned to complete mush in the last two weeks - what with jet lag, house hunting, car hunting and now driving our new car to our new house in the country! Ooooo-wee! It's a massive time for change, but my horoscope seems down with it, so away we go!

In the mean time, amongst still living out of my suitcase and mystery taped up boxes (can't wait to see what's in them after 4 months!) tiny little works keep materialising from my workbooks. Hopefully they are small pockets of joy to keep the blog going while I set up my new studio (SO EXCITED!).

Back to the Yarra (The Back Journals #24)

I am back in cloudy Melbourne, and madly trying to find somewhere to live! At the moment housesitting for my folks in South Yarra is a very sweet, but unproductive ride. I long for my desk, my sewing machine, my inks, my books, practically anything I can make a mess with.

It is still taking some getting used to trying to sign into blogger, as 'Anmelden' sat in my top right corner for the months in Germany! Though being back at South Yarra may feel unproductive, I have stumbled on some great gems of inspiration from my art school days, to share with the interwebs! Hope you like, and fingers crossed that my studio will up and ready soon!

The very last post before I get to Melbourne town! And now, rest, a hearty breakfast in the morning and away we go. I am longing of country houses with ginormous studios, sun shiney windows and steaming cups of tea.

just before i go

Massive apologies for the poor(er) image quality - I wanted to squeeze a last picture in before I go on my adventure to Frankfurt tomorrow! Berlin has been sweet to me and I am coming home with a big collection of pictures to develop - ideas are bursting and I feel ripe and ready to make things happen! So, pitstop in the stock exchange capital of Germany for a few days, and then homeward to Melbourne town!

exhibition!

Last Friday I participated in an informal group show, 'Let's Have An Exhibition At My House' in Kreuzberg, Berlin. This was organised by my dear friend Renee, at her flat. A lovely little show with works on paper, sculpture and video to name a few. wrapping up

Getting close to the end of the trip now! Kent and I have been living in the same room for nearly 3 months, and if you want to see how that has effected our art practice, click here - we made these works at exactly the same time, without any idea of what the other was doing. Spooky, no?

Well, as my trip is winding down, so is my will do do anything but bask in the sunshine. Spring is well and truly here in Berlin, and the prospect of sitting at my pathetic excuse for a table is quite dire. It's picnics all around, though I am now faced with a massive pile of collage material. So I have been having a few fun little sessions of random "grab a head, grab a body and stick it before you change your mind!" - sort of a speed-exquisite-corpse. Brings the productivity levels right up! Now ... to get it all home without blowing my baggage limit. Ew.

Mmm! Gotta love that fresh new paper smell, the soft indents from your first marks. Aaaah - bliss! I always vow each time I start a sketchbook "now this one better be awesome", so we shall see!
